ENDA
European Nurse Directors Association
ENDA was founded in 1992 in Geneva, Switzerland for the purpose of building a network for nurse directors throughout Europe. It has three aims:
- To strengthen the nursing contribution to policy-making (healthcare) in Europe
- To further the development of the art and science of nursing leadership through research, nursing education policy and practice development.
- To establish formal links between nurse leaders and their organisations across Europe and thus create a communication network of experts.
One of the cornerstones that enable networking and learning from each other are the bi-yearly ENDA congresses that attract participation from nurse leaders from all over Europe. The last congress was held in 2007 in Reykjavik and its theme was Tomorrow’s Nurse – Taking the Lead. Plans are advancing for the 9th congress to be held in 2009 in Helsinki.
ENDA welcomes membership from nurses in leadership positions.
Each participating country has its own national representative on the Standing Committee of ENDA. This membership elects the Board.
